This is my first entry into my blog, just to let you know, the German Shepherd is one of the smartest dogs you could ever own and if you can tap into the DDR bloodlines, you're getting an original standard of the breed!

Hello to all! Please keep sending me your puppy pictures, I love seeing them grow.
Hope everyone is off to a good start this year with whatever goals you have! Remember that if the weather is messy outside you can still train your dog in your house, in the comfort of your livingroom or kitchen, baby steps in heeling, sits, downs & stays!

Tankas Mom says...
I registered Tanka on the pedigree database. It's great to see all his siblings pictures. Need to get a good picture of him to put on there.

wow I just stumbled across Tanka's picture on the pedigree database looking for my Xander son's siblings. He could be mistaken for my boy Otto (out of Xander and Blair). Wow. Just wow, there's to such handsome boys!

Hi Tankas' Mom!! You just go to pedigreedatabase.com, and there's a box that says register a dog, and you just follow the steps. It allows you to download and update pictures very easily!! I registered Maximus with the AKC and waited to get his registration so that I could put that on there as well, but I don't think you necessarily need it. It's fun to go into the siblings page and see all the pictures! My niece took a picture of him over the weekend, and I'm still waiting to get it. It's the picture I'm going to use to update the database. Yeah, Maximus definitely rough houses with my husband, and he seems to like him best even though I'm the one that feeds him! LOL!!

He's doing great, he still tends to want to nip but mostly with my husband, not sure if it's a guy thing or teething. Probably both. Gaining back some confidence with other dogs, loves every human he sees, follows all his commands great except for heel, but getting better with that too. Next step to work on his commands with distractions around. He seems to grow while we look at him. How do you register him on the pedigree database?

Hi Donna, I just saw your comment! I ended up going to another trainer only because I felt he needed someone firmer due to the nipping! He's been great and he's doing really good with the kids now! How is Tanka now? I thought of you, because we had the Von Ryan puppies together there! Is he registered on the pedigree database? It's real easy to do and doesn't cost anything! I have to post a new picture of Maximus, because he's getting so big!!!

Hi Paula,
Tanka is doing good, we can sit and watch him grow. To Max' mom, hows he doing? Missed him at class this week. Will you be there next week? It's nice to be able to talk to someone going through the same puppy stages as we are.

Hi, just a quick update on Maximus. First night he was up 3 times and did not pee or poop when I took him out. We crated him last night with a t-shirt I wore all day and some soft music and night light. Went 10 PM - 4:40 AM without a sound!!! He's eating all his food too!! Lured him out with his leash with cheese. He did great for his walk this morning!! Compliments galore on him wherever he goes!! Thanks, Paula and Dan!!

Hi Donna,

I have no idea who makes these insurance regulations, but they're way off base when it comes to most dogs! Glad to hear your house was never broken into, and good luck with the insurance! Amica is a AAA rated company, so they're one of the strongest financially and a pleasure to deal with! Plus, we saved $600 on our homeowners! Good luck with your new puppy! They're all gorgeous, and it was a thrill to meet ours in person finally!

Hi Paula, All the puppies are adorable. We are counting the days until we can bring ours home. This is for Mickey- bickey, thanks for the info on the homeowners insurance. Our current company told us if we get another German Sheperd that they would no longer insure us. Funny thing about that is we live on a street with only 8 houses on it and a few years back every house but ours was broken into within a few days of each other. The police told us it was because of our dog. I think he saved them some money!

FYI:
For anyone concerned about homeowners insurance, Amica does not discriminate against dog breeds! I switched over to them, and saved a ton of money from our previous company, Travelers. I live near the water, and that was maybe the only concern, but it turned out to be fine!
